This event invites children and young people to explore the powerful stories of iconic artists who turned adversity into artistry.

Join us for a vibrant and inclusive celebration of creativity Barkingside art club and Spectrum

participants will engage in inclusive workshops where they will create stunning costumes inspired by the lives and works of renowned artists like Frida Kahlo, Pablo Picasso, and Henri Matisse. These artists exemplified courage in the face of disability, health challenges, and emotional struggles, and through this creative journey, attendees will learn how to express their own stories.

bring you a day packed with art, imagination, and celebration of courage. From designing vibrant costumes to painting your very own accessories and scarfs , this is where creativity meets fun!

Dress Me Like Frida, Dress Me Like Picasso!  

Step into the shoes of legendary artists like Frida Kahlo, Picasso, and Henry Matisse, who turned their challenges into masterpieces! In this hands-on workshop, kids will create one-of-a-kind costumes using cardboard, recycled treasures, masks, and props, channeling the energy and spirit of these famous figures. 

Studio 2: SEN Sensory Art Fun!  

This special workshop is all about making art accessible to everyone! For children with special needs and their families, we’ve created a playful, relaxed space where art becomes an adventure. With lots of ways to join in, everyone can explore their creativity—whether it's painting, building, or simply having fun with colors and textures. If siblings want to hop over to Studio 1, they’re welcome too!

  Time: 12:30 pm - 2:00pm & 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm  

  Dive into a world of color and creativity, where every child can shine! If drawing isn’t your thing, don’t worry—we’ve got loads of other fun ways to create amazing art. This is all about celebrating YOU and your unique talents!

Event Details:

- Duration: Each workshop runs for a super fun 1.5 hours.

- Materials: We provide all the cool stuff—paints, cardboard, fabric, recycled materials, and tons more to spark your imagination.

- Accessibility: These workshops are open to everyone, with plenty of adaptations to make sure every child can have fun and get creative.

Q1: Where will the workshops take place?

The workshops will be held at the Creative Art Hub, on the first floor of the main library. After entering through the library, take the lifts to the first floor.

- Studio 1 will host inclusive sessions.

- Studio 2 will run special educational needs (SEN) sessions.

Q2: Is the venue accessible for children with special needs?

Yes, the venue is fully accessible. There are lifts to reach the first floor, and the toilets are on the same level. Studio 2 is dedicated to SEN workshops, but all activities are adaptable and designed for children to engage easily. Please call Eliyah on 07889829218 to discuss any specific access needs in advance.

Q3: Do I need to pre-book for the SEN session?

Yes, parents are required to pre-book for SEN sessions so that we can make proper preparations for your child. Please contact Eliyah at the number above to reserve your spot.

Q4: Can siblings join the sessions?

Absolutely! Siblings are welcome to participate in Studio 1’s inclusive workshops. We have:

- A group for 5-12-year-olds, with a capacity of 8 children.

- A group for 13-16-year-olds, with a capacity of 6 teens.
