SEND GIRLS CREATIVE SOCIAL CLUB
Barkingside Art Club is home to the only workshop in the local area specifically designed for girls on the Autistic spectrum, other learning and physical difficulties with their families and siblings.
These are sessions where sen girls who are so often overlooked in day to day life can explore activities in a creative environment, within comfortable surroundings and with guidance from dedicated mentors experienced with working with SEN children.
As well as art workshops which explore a variety of techniques and materials via printmaking, painting, drawing or sculpture, the SEN Girls Creative Social Club also offers an additional activity delivered by guest mentors alongside the art workshops, so our participants can choose what they’d like to do best.
The library is wheelchair accessible, please do let us know if you have any special accessibility requirements before your session.
Can I pay weekly?
Unfortunately not - As this is a specialised class we need to know how many children to expect. For this reason we only offer a block term booking option.
However, if a new student a joins us part way through a term, we can arrange for a block of the remaining classes to be booked.
What if I miss a lesson?
If you can't make it to a lesson do not worry - we can provide an exciting class for your child to complete at home.
As with all of our termly clases, we cannot provide refunds or exchanges when a class is missed - please check all class dates on the event page to make sure you are available.
Can I support my child in class?
Feel free to drop your child off and collect them at the end of class - we have ample staff to support the children.
We welcome parents/carers who are actively supporting their children to join the class.
For all others we ask that you sit outside of the classroom, or return at pickup time.
Is there somewhere for me to wait?
Yes, there are seats outside the classroom where you are welcome to wait. We ask that parent's/carers don't pop in and out of class as this can comprimise the safety of children in class.
Advance class shedules
Where possible we will provide a summary of the class in advance for the girls to be aware of what to expect.
Can I take photographs in class?
Due to privacy policies; parents, carers and children are not permitted to take photos or videos inside the classroom.
Our staff will ocassionally take photos of classroom activities providing consent has been given.
Taking part in dance
Dance class runs from 6:30-7pm in the same room as the art class. Children are encouraged to join in however they prefer!
