Here's an outline of the event:
Event Title: Big Draw Festival: Drawing Faces in Motion
Date: 12th and 13th October 2024
Locations:
Ken Aston Square (12th October, 10 AM - 12 PM, 1 PM - 3 PM)
Spectrum Studio (12th October, 1 PM - 3 PM)
Redbridge Central Library (13th October, 1 PM - 3 PM)
Theme:
Drawing in Motion – This year’s festival theme highlights the fluidity of drawing as a medium to capture motion, emotion, and life in art. As we focus on drawing portraits from various angles, we will be teaching techniques like monoprinting and free drawing. Our participants will also have the opportunity to animate their drawings, turning still sketches into moving pieces of art.
Special Focus:
In celebration of Black History Month, we will highlight the creative journey of Esiyada, a young person and creative ambassador for our club. His role in mentoring SEN children and his talent for portrait drawing, especially in sketchbooks, will be a guiding light for others. He will support participants through the drawing process, helping them gain confidence and skills in art.
Workshop Highlights:
Drawing Techniques: Participants will explore freehand drawing, monoprinting, and sketching portraits from various angles to reflect the Big Draw theme of motion.
Animation Process: After drawing portraits, attendees will learn to create simple animations, breathing life into their artwork.
Sensory Engagement: For our SEN participants, we have designed sensory-focused processes, including large-scale portraits and animations, ensuring an inclusive and engaging environment.
Interactive Art Performances: Outdoor performances will invite participants and the community to draw while watching, capturing movements in real-time.
Who Can Join:
SEN Children and Families: We are offering tailored sessions, particularly at Spectrum Studio on the 12th and Redbridge Central Library on the 13th, focusing on creating inclusive, sensory-rich art experiences.
Everyone Else: Regardless of skill level, we welcome everyone to join, and for those who think they can't draw, our workshops will show you that drawing is for everyone!
What to Expect:
Free Sketchbooks: Every participant will receive a sketchbook to work on during and after the workshop.
Portrait Sketches and Prints: By the end, participants will have a collection of portrait sketches, prints, and animations to take home.
No Experience Required: Even if you don’t know how to draw, we will guide you through the process so you can express yourself freely.
Join us on 12th October at Ken Aston Square and Spectrum Studio and on 13th October at Redbridge Central Library for a weekend of creative exploration, drawing, and animation. Let’s celebrate movement, art, and community together in this inclusive and dynamic event!
