Light Up for Inclusion – Community Workshops

Create Lanterns, Posters & Story Banners for Our Inclusion Campaign

Join us at Fullwell Cross Library, Barkingside, for our annual Light Up for Inclusion community workshops — a creative, SEND-friendly and family-friendly campaign celebrating belonging, inclusion and individuality through visual art.

Since 2016, Barkingside Art Club has been based inside the library, offering a safe, welcoming and inclusive space for children, young people and families from all backgrounds. This campaign, founded by local artist and SEND parent Eliyah Qureshi, uses creativity to raise awareness, build community connections and promote inclusion across Redbridge.

What We Will Create in the Workshops

During these workshops, participants will have the opportunity to create:

✨ Bee Lanterns – symbolising autism, individuality and community strength.
✨ “Light for Inclusion” Posters – artworks expressing your message of inclusion and hope.
✨ Story Banners – personal or organisational stories that highlight lived experiences, challenges, achievements or gratitude.

You can create:

• A personal story banner

• A banner representing your child’s journey

• A banner for your organisation

• A story celebrating someone or an organisation who supported your family

• A creative message promoting inclusion in Redbridge

All artwork will be displayed at our final community celebration.

Workshop Dates – Fullwell Cross Library

Thursday 20 November — 11:00am–1:00pm
Friday 21 November — 5:00pm–7:30pm

Wednesday 26 November — 4:30pm–7:00pm
Thursday 27 November — 11:00am–1:00pm
Friday 28 November — 5:00pm–7:30pm

All ages and abilities are welcome to join. SEND families are especially encouraged to attend.

Donation

There is a £5 donation per participant to attend the workshops.
This contribution helps us cover materials and supports the continuation of this important inclusion campaign.

The Light Up for Inclusion event on 29th November is completely free for everyone.
